Maratona Lisboa

Sunday was marathon/half marathon day in Lisbon. A friend with connections in the Lisbon running community got us a VIP upgrade! For the marathon, that put me right in front at the starting line with the pro/elite runners, and ahead of all of the fastest rest of the field. I opted to move back a little ways instead. Anyway, the marathon and half followed totally different courses. I ran the marathon, which started in the beautiful coastal city of Cascais, which seems a lot like Carmel by the Sea. The half marathon started on top of the Vasco de Gama Bridge. Both ended in the same place in the center of Lisbon. The only hiccup was the 90 degree heat, which is far warmer than we're training in. But we both finished and can now enjoy the rest of the trip without worrying about the race!
